Live Aid was organised on July 13 1985, this benefit concert lasted for 16 hours. The whole event took place in Philadelphia, London and other smaller locations.
Bob Geldof and Midge Ure organised the benefit event to raise awareness and money for the poverty in Ethiopia.
Madonna performed in Philadelphia for her largest audience to date and sang three songs live 'Holiday', 'Into The Groove' and 'Love Makes The World Go Round' (a song off True Blue, that would be released a year later). A bit later she performed together with the Thompson Twins.
This performance took place right after the publishing of old nude photo's of Madonna in Playboy and Penthouse. Madonna responded to that by saying 'I ain't taking shit off today!'. In 2004 a 10 hour compilation was finally released on DVD.
